BI-LAYER VERSION (not completed yet)
With the new multiple scattering scheme, the bi-layer version of the model is more difficult to run unless you make some assumptions about interaction of the diffused radiation inside the canopy. one of the problem is that the multiple scattering is directional and that some components are only calculated from the point of view of the sensor. Newertheless, the bi-layer version can be accomplish.

Simple version:

Run the model for the lower canopy. Average the reflectance found at all angles and use this value as the background reflectivity in a second run of the model using the second canopy.

Complex version:

This version requires some modification of the code. You will need to use the command line version of 5-Scale or to run the model one angle at a time.

One problem with the simple version is that we lose some directionality by averaging the lower canopy reflectance.

1. Run the model for the lower canopy only.
2. Run the model for the upper canopy only.
