DATA STRUCTURES

The spatial data structure defines the method used to specify spatial features in each data layer.

In some cases the spatial data structure can be defined in the data dictionary (i.e. raster or vector).

However, in this section you should:

  • Explain why you chose a given data structure for each data layer
  • Any data structure conversions you performed with an explanation of why you did it.

For some groups, the choice of the data structure was defined by the available data layers (e.g. vector census data). These groups should simply state that there were no mixtures of data structures or conversions between data structures. Groups which used mixed data structures or performed conversion between data structures should explain these decisions in this section.
