Remote Sensing/GIS research
· Algorithms for Spatial Scaling of Net Primary Productivity
Using Subpixel Information (2001-present). A Boreal Ecosystems
Productivity Simulator (BEPS) Model has been used in the project.
The scaling factor is introduced in the analysis of Landsat
TM images. PCI software and programming in C language are
employed in the project.
· Completion of the Soil Texture Map of Canada using
Geographical Information System (2001). Conceptualized, conducted
and coordinated research project on manipulation of geoscience
data. Arc Info and Arc View have been used to generate a complete
data set for throughout Canada based on remote sensing images
and field sampling data. (www.geog.utoronto.ca/webstudent/ggr462/yr00-01/grp02/).
· Hydrological Behaviour of a Small Basin in Grassland
National Park, Saskatchewan-The Relation of Wetness Index
and Field Capacity of Soil (2001). Wetness index and field
capacity were two major factors analyzed in the project. GRASS
GIS software was employed and Top Model was implemented in
the project.
· Income and Education-Driving Forces behind Demographics
of Trois-Riviere, Quebec (2000). Atlas Plate was created by
using different symbolizing themes. Arc Info, Arc View and
Corel Draw were used.
Teaching (Teaching Assistant for GGR337 Remote Sensing course)
· Preparation of laboratory lectures and assignments;
providing tutorials in PCI software including image processing
(digital data interpretation, image enhancement processes,
statistical distribution), radiometric and geometric corrections,
and supervised and unsupervised classification.
2000-present GIS Analyst (student job)
Ryerson Polytechnic University, Toronto, Ontario
Database Modelling and GIS Research
· Updating of comprehensive databases.
· Data mining for hot spots of commercial activity
in Canada (2001-present). Enhancing and conceptualizing the
existing GIS-based views of commercial activities, by suitably
organizing and integrating various data into thematic maps.
Arc Info and Map Info and Mineset are employed in the project.
1998-2000 Professional Environmental Specialist
O'Connor Associates Environmental Inc., Oakville, Ontario
Project Manager and Technical reports
· Coordinated Phase I and II environmental investigation
and remediation projects for both private and public sector
clientele.
· Assisted in the design and implementation of remedial
action plans at sites contaminated with compounds such as
petroleum, chlorinated hydrocarbons, and pesticides.
· Coordinated field work and supervised soil excavations
and soil/rock drilling and piezometer installations.
· Prepared Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site
Assessment reports for a variety of industrial and commercial
properties and assisted in preparation of Phase III Environmental
Site Assessment reports.
· Prepared Summary Monitoring Reports; interpreted
aerial photographs.
Research
· Usage of methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) in the
gasoline across Canada (1999).
· Remediation techniques for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons
(PAHs) (1998).
1997-1998 Environmental Technician (school internship program)
O'Connor Associates Environmental Inc., Oakville, Ontario
· Performed groundwater monitoring, soil sampling and
surveys.
1996 Assistant Inspector for Industrial Waste Waters
Municipal Region of Peel, Public Works Department, Mississauga,
Ontario
Field work
· Inspected industrial wastewater systems within numerous
different types of industries.
