These are annual net biome productivity (NBP) results for all Canada's forests since 1901 simulated using InTEC. An equilibrium is assumed between NPP and heteorotrophic respiration in 1901 (Chen et al., submitted to Tellus). NBP includes carbon absorption by vegetation, releases of carbon from soils due to decomposition of dead organic matter, and direct releases of carbon during disturbance (fire, insect-induced mortality, harvest).
